In early 1984 at the age of 52, Arthur W. Benn found himself between jobs. Having been in the Wholesale business most of his career, and with his children grown, Art pondered over opening his own company. He met with a number of his past associates, including his wife, Shirley. A decision was made and he incorporated Benn Air Temp Supplies Inc. that same year.

Over the next 6 months, Art and John Delyea (his daughter Karen’s boyfriend at the time) planned and formed the business from the kitchen table and backyard of the family home. Then in early 1985 rented a building in Concord and opened the doors of Benn Air Temp Supplies Inc. In February 1985, Warren Benn, (Art’s son) joined the company. With Art’s friends and prior associates guiding them and giving advice, business continued to increase. It became necessary to hire more staff. In 1987 Greg Crawford, a long time family friend joined the team. And in 1990 Shirley Benn (Art’s wife) joined the growing company.

The business became such a success that they were able to open their first branch after only 7 years of operation. In September 1993 the Brampton branch was opened for business. In 1996 they branched out to Newmarket and purchased a building with approx 1900 sq ft. Warren Benn became Manager of the Newmarket location. In 1997 they purchased a new location in Concord again with approximately 1900 sq. ft. of space, and moved the Head Office to Brampton. John Delyea became manager of the Concord Location. Greg Crawford became Manager of the Brampton location and Art and Shirley looked after the business side of running Benn Air Temp Supplies Inc.

With continued growth, Michele Benn, (Warren’s wife), joined the team in 1999 and worked between Concord and Newmarket. Then in 2001 Jeremy Dotzko, joined the Brampton branch as a counter helper and driver. As our branches and business increased Sandra Jones joined our crew of inmates in 2004 in the position of Credit Manager and Accounts Payable at our Head Office.

Today, Art is semi-retired, John Delyea is the Branch Manager of Brampton, with assistance from Jeremy Dotzko, Warren Benn is the Branch Manager of Newmarket with assistance from Michele Benn, Greg Crawford is the Branch Manager of Concord, and Shirley Benn and Sandra Jones run the business side of the company from Head Office in Brampton.
